Greenery is high up on most London residents’ wish lists for their properties, even when it comes to London new builds. With that in mind, developers have been coming up with more inventive ways of incorporating a little bit of the English countryside into their developments. We talk to our New Homes Managers to find out which new developments have taken green spaces to a whole new level.

Heritage Walk

Kyle Hogg: “Located just a few minutes’ walk from the River Thames, Heritage Walk comprises 74 stunning apartments set within beautifully landscaped communal gardens.Taking inspiration from nearby parklands, such as the landscape of Kew Gardens and the Grade II listed London Museum of Water and Steam, greenery is at the heart of the Heritage Walk’s design. Many of the apartments benefit from direct views over the courtyard gardens from good-sized terraces, presenting a tranquil outlook for the residents. “

Fulham Riverside

Kyle Hogg: “Fulham Riverside, SW6 is an imaginative scheme which utilises its land space and location to the maximum. The housing development and the majority of the landscaping works are built over the top of a flagship Sainsbury’s Superstore and the gardens are amongst some of the biggest podium garden spaces in London, overlooking the River Thames on the riverfront in Fulham.”

“An expansive communal podium garden, created by Fabrik landscape architects, provides a magnificent centrepiece for the community. Channels of water flow towards the river around a central lawn into a large pool, before cascading down an impressive three-metre waterfall. There are also places for quiet relaxation, an outdoor gym, badminton court, children’s play areas and green spaces for picnics, reading or relaxing in the sun.”

Blackfriars Circus

Amit Masrani: “Despite being situated in the centre of London within easy reach of South Bank, Blackfriars Circus offers a wealth of greenery to provide its residents with a sense of tranquillity. The development achieves this by blending greenery in-between commercial spaces.”

“A café is to be built in the courtyard along with seating areas and gardens, and podium gardens will also be in place to make the most of the iconic surroundings with far-reaching views. There will also be an atrium inside one of the buildings which will be filled with plant life, far-removed from the industrial setting of the capital.”

Enderby Wharf

Amit Masrani: “Enderby Wharf is a new riverside development made up of 688 flats that are distributed throughout eight buildings across the site. Each flat benefits from at least one balcony or terrace, with some including stunning views of the river. Alongside this, there will also be plenty of greenery and trees weaving in between the different buildings, as well as courtyard gardens which will include play areas for children.”

Greenwich Peninsula

Amit Masrani: “Greenwich Peninsula is one of London’s and Europe’s largest regeneration projects taking place over 10 years and being conducted by Hong Kong developers, Knight Dragon.”

“No other development that I have ever seen in London has been designed in this way before. It features several roof top gardens, as well as cascading terraces that are clearly visible from the exterior of the building. Each of these terraces faces the river, presenting a stunning backdrop to relaxing or entertaining friends.”

To arrange a viewing at Greenwich Peninsula, please contact the New Homes South East team on 020 7973 2020.

Wardian London

Pasha Richards: “Wardian London is a tranquil retreat at the centre of East London. It is a residential sanctuary with every apartment boasting its own fully fledged ‘sky garden’ balcony, comprising ferns and succulents, and most importantly ‘The Wardian Gardener’: a planting scheme tailored to suit the owners’ lifestyle.

Over 100 species of plants are expertly landscaped throughout the scheme. From the open-air 25 metre swimming pool located next to the West garden, to two giant glass Wardian cases, housing exotic plants in the main lobby. These cases can be entered, providing an engaging connection with nature - a ground-breaking concept in residential property development.”
