A day in the life of a Move Consultant

What does the role of a Move Consultant really involve? One of our Move Consultants gives you an inside view.

  1. A typical day...

    Every morning the Sales Director starts the day with a briefing outlining current market trends, industry news and any new sales targets and prizes for the day. It is then the responsibility of your Team Leader to inspire, train and mentor you throughout the rest of the day.

    When you join as a Move Consultant you will be assigned a key territory in London or Surrey that will become your responsibility. In order to maximise business within your area you will start by contacting previous or existing Foxtons tenants, landlords, buyers or vendors and advising them on different parts of our business. This will include generating new properties for Foxtons to sell or let and advising buyers on the financial options available to them, including Alexander Hall, as well as other in-house services such as New Homes, Property Management and Corporate Services.

    Throughout the day your aim will be winning new business and pro-actively telephoning potential clients who have not yet made contact with Foxtons. It is part of your challenge to advise them on why Foxtons is the best estate agency for them to sell or let their property through.

    It is vital that you build a strong rapport with Foxtons Property Negotiators, therefore part of the day can often involve visiting our branches to accompany the Negotiators and Valuers on viewings so that you understand fully how their side of the business works.

    Every time you achieve a new target you will win points. The points of each Move Consultant are immediately updated on large plasma screens based all over the trading floor so that you can see where you rank against your peers. The higher your position on the board, the more money you earn at the end of the month.

    It is important to use your lively personality and initiative to develop new ways of generating business for yourself thereby increasing your ranking on the board.

    You will also recieve continious training sessions to update and refresh your sales techniques and industry knowledge. The majority of your business will be conducted over the telephone therefore it is vital that you can convey your knowledge, enthusiasm and energy via this medium.
