A day in the life of a New Business Receptionist

What does the role of a New Business Receptionist really involve? One of our New Business Receptionists gives you an inside view.

  1. A typical day...

We are ready for business from 8am and typically start the day by preparing and organising the reception area and completing all necessary administration tasks.

Throughout the day you will answer a vast and varied number of calls for all Foxtons' London offices and Surrey divisions. You will need to understand callers' requirements, transfer calls to their correct destinations quickly and efficiently as well as handle a small number of complaints in a proficient and helpful manner. You will also be responsible for registering all new applicants as well as booking valuations for individuals looking to rent or sell property. As the first point of contact, it is essential that New Business projects a polite and professional image at all times. Excellent customer service is essential.

We pride ourselves on excellent customer service

As a New Business Receptionist you will also respond to emails coming into Foxtons as well as meet and greet visitors. This could be someone coming for an interview, a landlord needing information from a Property Manager, a courier making a delivery, or a supplier attending a meeting. It is imperative that visitors get a great first impression of Foxtons. Therefore you will be expected to keep the reception area clean and tidy and maintain a friendly, welcoming manner at all times.

There is an immense sense of achievement when a customer gives positive feedback

In essence, New Business is the hub of Foxtons and you, as a New Business Receptionist, will become central to the success of the business. You will need to understand the roles of all departments, how they interact and the names and responsibilities of all employees.

Our New Business Receptionists work on a shift basis in order to ensure excellent customer service levels at all times of day. We take calls from 8am-8pm and therefore this requires you to be flexible, however, this can work in your favour! One week you may work on Saturday but then be rewarded with a long weekend, other times you will start work at 11am and the following week finish early at 5pm.

New Business thrives on a team culture where working effectively alongside your colleagues is paramount to its success. For this reason we have a weekly department meeting which helps the team maintain a common goal and allows you to contribute ideas. A buzzing, friendly and dynamic environment is what will drive you at Foxtons and you will leave work each day knowing you play an active role in the success of the company.
