Kimberly James, New Business Receptionist

I began my career at Foxtons as a New Business Receptionist in 2005 after graduating from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Joining an estate agency was not a move I had previously considered but the experience has been fantastic and I am thoroughly enjoying my role.

New Business is the centre point of Foxtons and as a New Business Receptionist you manage a large number of enquiries on a day-to-day basis. Dealing with both the general public and my colleagues makes my job extremely varied.

My first role involved dealing with the large number of phone enquiries that we receive daily, which was a huge learning curve as I had to become familiar with every department in the company. After several months I was moved to our main reception area, where my role changed significantly. I was interacting with people face-to-face and the role really helped me to develop my confidence and communication skills, as well as teaching me to manage my own time: an invaluable skill.

I was then thrilled to be promoted to my current role as Team Leader, where I manage a team of Receptionists - something I am very proud of. This part of my role is extremely rewarding and it has been a great platform for developing my leadership skills. My day starts with a number of morning meetings in front of our entire department - something I never thought I would be capable of.

My promotion is a great example of how Foxtons works; hard work really is rewarded and there are fantastic opportunities for you to progress your career.

Finally, I must mention the team I work with. Foxtons is a company full of ambitious, like-minded people and I have made many great friends. The environment is incredible; the enthusiasm and energy makes a huge difference to your day. I am now looking forward to progressing further within the company and enjoying more exciting rewards!
