Mandy Yau, New Business Team Leader
After graduating from Brunel University with a degree in Psychology, I went travelling for a couple of months before starting to look for a job. I was unsure about what I wanted to do as a career but just knew that I wanted to work within a company that offered plenty of opportunity and progression, as well as fun! Judging by the website, I could see that Foxtons was the perfect company for this.
At Foxtons, the New Business department is the first point of contact for the general public, so we deal with a large amount of general as well as detailed enquiries. After extensive training and support from my peers and Team Leaders, I was able to build up my confidence and knowledge of the industry and company and felt more comfortable dealing with any type of enquiry.
After a year and a half I was promoted to a Senior New Business Consultant which involved me training new starters for our department, regularly organising competitions and working more closely with the Team Leaders and Managers. Since then, and with a lot of hard work, I have been lucky enough to be promoted again to my current role as Team Leader and am now responsible for managing my own team within the department. I also get involved with the New Business recruitment, induction and ongoing training sessions and present to both new starters and employees.
Although this is not a targeted sales role, there are plenty of incentives to work towards such as trips away and nights out, which are always great fun! Although Estate Agency was not something I had really considered, it has helped me immensely with developing and learning new skills and enjoy every minute of it.
