Neighbourhoods on the edge of London and those in Surrey like Woking and Guildford are within easy reach of central London, yet offer buyers and renters a lot more bang for their buck.

In Kingston we have a diverse demographic from the young to the old, but we see a lot of families move into the area, primarily for the outstanding schools, Kingston University and the pedestrianised centre, which is largely overarched by Bentalls - one of the most popular shopping destinations in the South East of England.

As well as new retail development like that along the banks of the Thames at Kingston Bridge, developers like CNM Estates are investing in existing sites such as Tolworth Tower and the Gala Bingo Hall to improve and regenerate certain parts of the town centre.

In the past few years, Woking Borough has undergone an incredible regeneration that has really put it on the map.

The main focus of this change has been the redevelopment of the town centre, with a massive £250 million investment from both Woking Borough Council and private investors to build housing, restaurants, office space, a hotel and a much-anticipated Marks & Spencer.

To accommodate the rise in visitor numbers and road traffic, there have been talks about upgrading existing infrastructure, such as the widening of Victoria Arch to improve traffic flow along the main route into Woking.

The development of districts like West Byfleet to create more commercially viable centres is also a promising economic indicator that I anticipate will positively affect the housing market around here.
