The tiled wall partitions in the bathroom of this ground floor apartment leave little question as to the building's past.

It was converted approximately 12 years ago from a Victorian school into `The Village', a modern collection of live/work units, which initially attracted an array of creative residents, from cake makers and architects to high profile furniture and interior designers.

The inspired owners of this property then converted it from what was a sparse classroom into the spectacular apartment it is today. Half of the reception room is taken up by a double-height studio.

Reminiscent of school art rooms, the tall windows, high ceilings and parquet floors allow in plenty of light while also offering unusually expansive living space; I am sure this property will appeal to both artists and art enthusiasts keen to use the studio to its full potential or indeed to display treasured works.

The rear section of the reception room is below the mezzanine and well suited to soirées the kitchen is separated from the dining area by a sociable breakfast bar and there is plenty of floor space for guests to mingle. The studio is overlooked by the mezzanine landing, a vantage point from which to witness masterpieces in the making, and the two bedrooms on this level are cosy retreats. There is also a study, although the current `boudoir' arrangement demonstrates how this can be put to alternative uses. Getting around is easy from this Battersea location not only does the development have gated off-street parking but Clapham Junction mainline train station is a few minutes' walk away.

In terms of local life, shops, bars and restaurants abound on Battersea Rise and Northcote Road while Clapham Common is a mere stroll away for idyllic inspiration. Foxtons.co.uk/1483346 Three properties in the same development recently attracted superb offers after much interest. The flats, on the ground, first and second floors of a Victorian house, are decorated to the highest standard and within easy reach of Wandsworth Common.
