For those wanting the amenities of Fulham Broadway but the peace and quiet of a private gated road, Walham Yard could be ideal.
Built in 1874 to provide stables and accommodation for horse-drawn cab proprietors, the mews has undergone many changes between 1924 and 1940 it played host to a number of businesses, from tyre dealers and leather merchants to fishmongers and fruiterers. I am delighted to be marketing a former warehouse in Walham Yard that has been converted into a three bedroomed house, a far cry from its former functions.
The three bedrooms have access to a balcony and exemplify cosy comfort while wardrobes that have been cleverly incorporated into the first floor corridor walls hide any hint of clutter. And when the strains of city life become too much, residents can take refuge in the bathroom with its twin basins, anti-steam mirrors, underfloor heating and even a decadent double jacuzzi bath. The two principal reception areas fulfil dual purposes family living and extravagant entertaining.
The eat-in kitchen on the ground floor has no shortage of storage and the island makes a handy breakfast bar while also folding out to make a table for lively dinner parties.
The second floor reception room stretches the entire width of the building to make a large living area with windows and skylights that bathe the room in natural light.
By night, however, the room really comes into its own, the state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems combining to create either a relaxing haven or party atmosphere. Walham Yard is close to Fulham Broadway, a hub of activity with a wide selection of bars and restaurants, shops and a cinema. The District Line makes journeying to the City easy while the nearby A4 puts Heathrow within easy reach by car from the private garage a relative rarity for London. Foxtons.co.uk/2324947 After just two weeks of marketing and plenty of interest, we let this three bedroomed maisonette for 24 months at 495 per week, exceeding its asking price. The property is close to the independent shops and restaurants of Wandsworth Bridge Road and the open spaces of South Park. We recently let this four bedroomed house for 36 months at 660 per week, surpassing its asking price.
The tenants paid three months' rent in advance to secure the property, which has a conservatory-style dining area and French doors to the garden.
