As we move into the warmer months, locals can finally look forward to spending their spare time in the sun.
Muswell Hill, famed for its village feel, is surrounded by green open spaces and this month I'd like to highlight some of my personal favourites. In 1990, an Act of Parliament created the Alexandra Palace and Park Trust to ensure the grounds stay open to London residents forever. They remain a picture-perfect example of lush greenery, where manicured lawns and a glistening lake are crowned by fabulous hilltop views for miles across central London. Further south, Highgate and Queens Wood, two verdant ancient sites conjoined by Muswell Hill Road, are both teaming with wildlife including 70 different bird species and provide the ideal place for a shady walk when the weather gets too hot.
For sun worshipers, a vast clearing in Highgate Woods is home to a children's playground and is also great for sports, nature trails or just catching some rays. Properties close to both public parks are highly desirable, but private outdoor space is still the hottest commodity and Muswell Hill's period homes mean many locals are lucky enough to own a personal slice of outdoor life. A five bedroomed house on Windsor Road in Finchley that is currently on our books has a vast rear garden; a dining patio provides the perfect place for a family barbeque, while the two landscaped lawns and mature trees form a shady haven from the city heat.
Borders brim with shrubbery and charming features such as the pretty pagoda add yet more personality to an already appealing home. Foxtons.co.uk/1158957 We recently secured a fantastic offer on this five bedroomed detached house on Grove Avenue in central Muswell Hill, which was on the market for 899,950. This four bedroomed house on Elm's Avenue in central Muswell Hill was recently sold for 1.525 million.
The property had been completely refurbished by the previous owners into a bright open-plan home.
