As an area, Notting Hill is hard to beat.

Chic boutiques and quirky restaurants jostle for position alongside character-filled pubs and pretty pastel properties, while the hundreds of visitors who come here each week pay ample testament to the locale's charm.

This truth has not gone unnoticed by Notting Hill's residents: once they move here, few want to leave.

This often leads to people relocating within the area; it is not uncommon to see young couples selling their single life pads and searching for a larger flat together, for example, with the chief stipulation being that the new property should still be in a similar vicinity. This tale is certainly not unfamiliar to the owners of the house I'd like to highlight this month.

After selling their individual flats in Notting Hill, the couple bought this four bedroomed house in Artesian Village through us in 2003 and set about creating their ideal home.

Over the course of the years, they have completely renovated the property, designing and installing a new kitchen and bathrooms, even going so far as to extend the living area and creating an extra bedroom to add yet more square footage to the already sizable home.

The results are breathtaking: the interior is a sleek symphony of space and light; the bathrooms smart and stylish; the bedrooms airy; the garden generous.

Now, two children later, the family are ready to upgrade once more within the area, of course giving another couple the chance to enjoy this beautiful home. Foxtons.co.uk/147264 We recently sold this top floor flat on Elgin Crescent in the heart of Notting Hill for 15,000 over the asking price after it received multiple offers.

Contracts on the two bedroomed period conversion were exchanged just weeks after the final offer was agreed at 540,000. This beautiful three bedroomed split-level flat on Westbourne Gardens in Bayswater recently sold through us at 1.45 million. Part of the property's appeal came from its pretty private garden.
