The warmer months are fast approaching and as June arrives Richmond increasingly comes into its own.
Naturally leafy and full of pastoral charm, this area and those surrounding it burst spectacularly into bloom as spring becomes summer, with blossom gracing the trees and the parks filling with flowers and vibrant green. In fact, many people move here purely for the abundance of beautiful outside space on offer. The most notable example of this is Richmond Park, which spans 2,500 acres and is home to rolling grassland, mature trees and 650 roaming deer.
Residents of Sheen, Petersham and Richmond Hill all directly benefit from this vast expanse gates in all these areas lead directly onto the Park and local schoolchildren reap the rewards of having playing fields and the site for many group activities on their doorstep.
There is also a number of tennis clubs and golf courses scattered liberally across the local landscape, while nearby Kew Gardens is beloved of botany enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. This area is enduringly popular with families and the gardens here are a primary reason for this.
Outside space is always a priority for those with children so a large garden can add around ten percent to the overall value of a property, depending on its size and location.
This month I'd like to highlight a five bedroomed Edwardian house on Hampton Road in Strawberry Hill.
Ideal for summer, its beautiful garden is the perfect size for a family, with a seating area for adults and a lawn for children to play.
There is also a pretty roof terrace overlooking the garden, while further afield Twickenham Green and Strawberry Hill Golf Course can be found.
This bewitching suntrap is sure to enchant every potential buyer crossing its threshold, so I suppose it goes without saying that I don't expect it to be on the market for long. Foxtons.co.uk/1354130 After taking on four flats in a development on St Margarets Road we succeeded in agreeing offers on three of them within just four weeks.
All of them have two bedrooms and were on the market at 350,000, 250,000 and 279,950. We also sold this lovely two bedroomed flat in Clubhouse Apartments a striking 1930s Art Deco building on Strawberry Hill for 350,000: a great price.
