Not only is Lots Road Power Station an instantly recognisable local landmark but, from 1905 until its closure in 2002, it supplied electricity for the District Line.

Like its Battersea neighbour, the building is now the subject of ambitious building plans to match the glitz of nearby Chelsea Harbour and Imperial Wharf. But before such state-of-the-art structures graced the river banks, Lots Road formed the boundary of an unassuming grid of Victorian terraces where local shops, a playground and a pub served the local community.

I am currently marketing a highly unusual studio flat that was once an off-licence; like the wines once sold here, the property is flowing with character and might appeal most to a creative tenant. After its closure in 1984, the shop was converted into the spectacular studio it is today.

The entrance on the ground floor leads to a spiral staircase down into the main living area, which is bathed in light from the floor-to ceiling shop windows.

The compact but sleek kitchen is under the pavement at the front while the bedroom and shower room are tucked away at the rear. Not only is this an exceptional property but it is also in an exciting location.

Antique and furniture auctions draw visitors to Lots Road every Sunday and Chelsea's well known haunts are within walking distance.

But ongoing development projects along the Thames have also had a positive impact restaurants and shops are springing up in Imperial Wharf while Chelsea Harbour retains an air of exclusivity and a new West London Line train station will really put this riverside enclave on the map. Foxtons.co.uk/23356597 After attracting multiple bids, this contemporary apartment in Westminster was let for 36 months at 425 per week.

Perfect for relieving the stress of city life, the one bedroomed flat is within a development that also includes a gym and business centre. We recently let this three bedroomed penthouse flat for 36 months at 850 per week after only a short time on the market.

Situated in the heart of Westminster, the property has underground parking and a balcony with great views over London.
