The suburb of Teddington, located in the south-west of London, has been named the best place in the Capital to live by the Sunday Times.
The Sunday Times’ annual 'Best Places to Live' guide highlights the areas of the UK that are exceptional across a number of categories. The guide looks at an array of features, including quality of schools, pollution levels, availability of public transport, broadband speeds, access to green spaces and high street health, and once combined, these aspects subsequently determine the superlative village, town or city in each UK region.
Teddington was praised in the guide for its wide leafy streets, its River Thames towpaths and its proximity to the fabulous Bushy Park, London’s second largest Royal Park, which is home to deer herds, thousands of trees and expansive areas of greenery.
The Sunday Times also made a point of praising Teddington’s high street, stating that while other parts of London have seen retail outlets shut their doors permanently in recent years, Teddington’s premier shopping street remains a thriving, bustling community hub.
Speaking following the guide's publication, Chris Cooper, Lettings Manager at Foxtons’ Richmond and Twickenham office, said: “Teddington is well connected, has a village feel, is community-driven and offers diversity – it is everything future tenants and homeowners look for.
“With the ability to easily reach central London in 25 minutes, accompanied by a vast array of popular and independent local shops, restaurants and bars, as well as having one of the Capital’s most impressive parks and the River Thames on its doorstep, it is no surprise Teddington is one of London’s most desirable areas.”
Chris’ sentiments were echoed by Michael Owen, Sales Manager at Foxtons’ Richmond and Twickenham office, who said: “Teddington is a lovely place to live on the River Thames. It has an array of cafes, bars and restaurants, with Shambles Italian restaurant being a personal favourite. People really value Teddington for the warm and friendly atmosphere, as well as the great schools and transport links into London. I lived in Teddington for four years and still come back to the same barbers to get my hair cut!”
