Dick Whittington: MDS Pantomime 2026
Merrow Dramatic Society pantomime is back for another year! Known for our sell out panto's in Guildford, MDS are excited to present their purr-fectly delightful 2026 family pantomime Dick Whittington. Fur-get everything you thought you knew about Dick Whittington! Our tail' begins with our hero and his feline friend whisk(er)ing away from their Wiltshire home to seek their fortune on London's streets of gold. But when they arrive, they discover the neighbourhood has a serious Cat-astrophe King Rat and his rodent army are causing mayhem! Join Dick and his cat Tommy as they pounce into adventure, encounter an eccentric fairy, are helped on the way by a larger than life cook & fall head over paws in love. Directed by Elena May Mason, Choreography by Jo Burston, Musical Director Andy Friend-Smith. Playing at Merrow Village Hall 22nd - 24th January 2026, including a Saturday Matinee. Bellini's opera NORMA
Bellini’s opera, ‘Norma’, is being performed by Guildford Opera Company. Her sacred vows of chastity broken, the priestess Norma, sung by soprano Callie Gaston, has secretly had two children with the military leader Pollione. But when she learns he has transferred his affections to the younger Adalgisa, she leads her people in revolt against their oppressors whilst also plotting revenge against her partner and his new young lover. The opera is sung in English and accompanied by a chamber orchestra. This is a rare opportunity for Guildford audiences to enjoy this work of great dramatic and musical power performed by an award winning company.Read more
Joy to the World - Christmas Art Exhibition
The Christmas art exhibition at Guildford Cathedral is a highlight each year, featuring artwork from pupils of all ages, from nursery to sixth form. This year, schools explored the theme ‘Joy to the World’ inspired by Luke 2:10: ‘Don’t be afraid, because I am bringing you some good news. It will be a joy to all the people.’ The exhibition reflects on how Jesus brings joy and hope, even in difficult times.
