This month, Emily talks to Adrian Moody (left) and Andrew Milsom (right), Lettings and Sales Managers from Barnet. Here's what they have to say on their area.
HI GUYS! SO, WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE MARKET IN YOUR AREA?Andrew: 'Well, there's lots of movement from buyers selling property in areas like Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Finchley, looking to make the move out to houses in this area on account of the excellent transport links, safe family surroundings and a selection of fantastic state and private schools.'
Adrian: 'Also, The Dollis Valley council estate is being knocked down and redeveloped, giving the area an exciting new image.'
AND ARE THERE ANY NEW SHOPS, BARS OR RESTAURANTS IN BARNET?Adrian: 'Yes. The new Bar & Grill restaurant on Church Passage is exciting, and Bel Gelato, the delicious ice cream parlour in Spires shopping centre, opened just in time for the sunny weather.'
Andrew: 'And there is talk of potential development of the Spires shopping centre. You heard it here first!'
WHERE DO YOU BOTH LIKE TO RELAX IN YOUR PRECIOUS DOWN TIME?Andrew: 'Personally, Spizzico is always a favourite for the friendly staff and great international cuisine and I'm a fan of the Black Horse pub which does excellent pub grub and amazing beers from its very own Barnet Brewery.'
Adrian: 'The Black Horse is great but we're spoilt for choice with lots of pubs and bars in the area. To name a few, The Reks bar, The Arkley Village Inn and Dining and the fully refurbished The Gate are all fantastic too.'
SOUNDS GOOD! SO WHAT IS THERE FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SPECIALAndrew: 'The many celebrities and footballers living in Arkley, Hadley Wood and Totteridge make sure the area has plenty of places to enjoy the high life. The prestigious Hadley Wood Golf Club is an impressive place for a day out, where you can improve your handicap whilst surrounded by stunning parkland.'
OK, AND ON THE OTHER SIDE, WHAT CAN WE GET UP TO FOR FREE?Adrian: One of the benefits of not being in central London is that we have some fantastic commons and parkland to explore; my two favourites are Hadley Green and Monken Hadley Common. Oakhill Park is also a great place to stretch your legs and even hosts a free festival in the summer.'
Andrew: 'There's also Barnet Museum which is free and has a pretty comprehensive collection of articles found in the area, some dating back to the Bronze Age.'
TELL US SOMETHING OTHERS WOULDN'T KNOWAdrian: 'The Charles Dickens novel, The Adventures of Oliver Twist, was believed to have been based on an old workhouse in Barnet.'
THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND FOR GIVING US SOME LOCAL INSIGHT ON YOUR AREAContact Foxtons Barnet or ask Andrew or Adrian to value your home.
