Virgin Active, Repton Park

Virgin Active, Repton Park

Not somewhere accessible to every local, but worth a mention all the same. The pool here is set within a converted church and is one of the most relaxing places to come and reflect upon your day...or just reflect on life.

Woodford Wine Room

Woodford Wine Room

A small and friendly wine shop. They even sell wine from a barrel if you bring your own bottle to fill up.

Wanstead Farmers' Market

Wanstead Farmers' Market

Great locally produced food. Look out for TTaste street food serving freshly made gyoza (Chinese dumplings) served with TTaste homemade chilli oil.

Sheesh

Great Middle Eastern-style food, stunning venue and a fantastic atmosphere. Will certainly be going back! You can spend your whole evening here, as there's a cocktail bar with live music for pre or post-dinner drinks.

Vinoramica

Vinoramica

Lovely owner with amazing selection of craft beers and wines.

North Star

Situated in Leytonstone Village near Bushwood, this pub has a food menu with a Thai twist and a beer garden out the back.

All You Read is Love

All You Read is Love

Great cosy atmosphere, superb coffee and cocktails, second hand books and records!

My absolute fave hang out is this uber cool independent bookshop, café and bar run by a lovely Danish pair in Bushwood, Leytonstone. They hold great Scratch Nights for up and coming artists. Real unique personality to it - comedy, magic, music gigs and book launches. Fab cocktails and coffee too. In the daytime, it's the perfect place to buy or just chill with a book.

Le Petit Corner

Le Petit Corner

Le Petit Corner is my absolute fave café in the Bushwood end of Leytonstone. It's Bugaboo central, but the kids can play downstairs, so upstairs is chilled and they have a secluded garden. Top toasties and apple tart and just started doing select gourmet food evenings, perfect for date night!

The Flower Pot

The Flower Pot

Fantastic quiz night on Tuesdays, music, really old feel pub, hasn't been gentrified. Very friendly, very low staff turnover which is a good sign.

The Birds

The Birds

Amazing Sunday Roasts. Cool pub based on Alfred Hitchcock - Leytonstone's most famous son. Set right in heart of Bushwood Area. Great crowd.

Little Saigon

Little Saigon

Funky vibe, Shoreditch-y look with in house tuk tuk. Serves excellent soft shell crab and the noodles are fabulous.

The Wild Goose Bakery

The Wild Goose Bakery

Amazing cakes and pastries, lovely atmosphere. Best place to catch up with other Mums.

The Luna Lounge

The Luna Lounge

This music venue hosts live music nights on two levels. Love the summer with the doors open, view of the church and gorgeous live jazz. Also they do rock and blues, and open mic nights. But for me, to have a cracking jazz venue minutes from my front door is the best.

The Red Lion

The Red Lion

Awesome pub with a beer garden, a great vibe, great people and a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. It's also very close to Leytonstone Underground Station.

Why not explore the nearby areas of Roding, Woodford, Woodford Green, Fulwell, Barkingside, Fairlop, Wanstead, Grange Hill and Cranbrook

"The only complete skull of a mammoth to be discovered in the UK was unearthed in 1860 on Ilford's High Road."

Perfect for commuters, Leytonstone is only five stops on the Central line from London Liverpool Street.

Joshua Mugume

A lovely place to relax or have a picnic, Epping Forest has a picturesque lake where you can hire a boat for £15 an hour.

Natalie Mills

The opening of the Overground line at Walthamstow Station has really boosted the area.
