Alcohol inks are vibrant, fun and easy for beginners. Join me in this workshop to learn how to apply, remove and get texture from this brilliant medium. I will show you a few techniques to get different results, demo how to have a little control over them, but mostly you just get to play and see what fun creations you can make. Students to bring Apron/something to cover clothes Gloves I will likely have a few but they are a small size Tiny detail brushes Pencils Face mask if you are sensitive to smells Masking fluid if you have it (I will also have some) Lunch Optional if you have at home Posca pens/acrylic pens Any other medium/surface you might want to try the inks on eg ceramics, metals, canvas on boards, acetate, vinyl Disclaimer: With the alcohol inks we will be using 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. It has a strong smell that can sometimes cause people headaches. The room will need to be well ventilated with windows open and if you are sensitive bring a face mask, I will supply everything else to have fun and create some beautiful images. Juliet’s 2024 album Carnival, her fourth studio album in a career that has spanned more than two decades, has been hailed as “a powerfully emotive performance from start to finish” and praised for her “gift for honest, emotionally layered songwriting”. Reviewers describe her music as “soulful, lightly twangy and pop-forward… unmistakably personal”, noting its ability to balance emotional depth with melodic ease. Since returning to music in 2020 after a decade away, Juliet has performed more than 150 shows annually across the US and UK, including acclaimed sets at intimate listening rooms, clubs, and regional festivals. She has earned top honors from the Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards and the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, among other national songwriting accolades, and her songs have been featured on MTV, VH1, and over 175 radio stations worldwide. Audiences describe her live shows as both intimate and electrifying — the kind of evenings that “turn a performance into a conversation”.

A workshop for enthusiastic 1st timers, beginners, and more competent artists. Working on canvas, using acrylic or oils. Jamel will bring a selection of suitable images; you are welcome to bring your own. There will be a brief demonstration and then Jamel will support and guide you through to a completed picture/s. Participants are asked to bring: Canvas about A3 size to no bigger than 50cm Acrylic,/ Water Container and or Oil Paints, Brushes Rag/ kitchen roll Paper plate/ palette An easel if you prefer. Jamel will have a few images of Cookham, if you have a favourite view please bring this with you Packed lunch Tips to make the most of the workshop: It's worth paying a little extra for better quality materials, good quality makes the process easier to learn.
