Property exclusive: an architect's west London vision

Just round the corner from Ealing Broadway's bustling hub of shops and restaurants sits this beautiful six bedroom house, which is one the most impressive we've seen in the area.

Having undergone a monumental renovation overseen by designer and developer Christopher Cooke, it has been transformed from run down to remarkable in only 19 months.

Chris comments "this is the second prime property I have fully designed and built in Ealing. The previous property was only 300 yards away on a neighbouring street. But this is by far my proudest work."

And rightly so.

Renovated with the highest attention to detail, there are plenty of individual and carefully crafted features, such as the spiral staircase that reaches all the way through the property's four storeys. A feat of design and "enormously complicated to build", the handrails were made entirely on site and the internal rail is one continuous piece.

But it was certainly worth all the effort.

Just as extraordinary is the luxurious finish that observes a number of this year's interior design trends.

Pairing traditional and contemporary features throughout, from the beautifully restored façade to the ultra-modern landscaped garden–which wouldn't look out of place attached to a luxury Spanish villa–it is the stunning open-plan kitchen that is one of Chris's favourite parts of the house.

There is also an impressive basement conversion that's home to a gym and a cinema, as well as air-conditioning throughout.

Quite simply, there are a number of design elements that "make this house stand out from anything Ealing currently has to offer."

In recognition of Chris and his team's hard work, the property has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Sunday Times British Home Awards 2016in the categories Best One-Off House, Best Interior Design and Best Refurbishment of Existing Building(s). We have our fingers crossed!
