May Half-Term Activities
Fill up your half-term week with some fun at Capel Manor Gardens this May. On Wednesday 27 and Friday 29 May, bring the family along to explore their love for nature and creativity by painting a terracotta pot and planting a colourful flower. This mindful indoor workshop is aimed at children aged five and above, but is also suitable for adults! All necessary materials will be provided, we just advise that you bring some old clothes you dont mind getting paint on. Our Gardens and mini zoo are open between 10am and 5.30pm. Explore and get inspiration from over 30 landscaped gardens including our Walled Garden, Fairy Forest and Maze. Standard Garden admission applies for entry to Capel Manor Gardens. Terracotta Pot Painting can be added to your visit for an additional 8 per child or participating adult. Children must be supervised at all times. Supervising adults who are not taking part in the activity only need to purchase standard Garden admission. We have two sessions per day, please arrive 10 minutes before your session begins as the workshops will begin promptly. Spaces are limited and pre-booking is essential.Read more

Explore the Site at Your Own Pace Enjoy a flexible day with access to our main exhibition, 1940s display, and rocket vault throughout the day. 10:3011:30 Solar Cyanotype Workshop Create beautiful sun-powered prints using natural materials, while learning about solar energy and developing observation skills. 12:00 - 13:00 Bug Hotel Investigation Discover whos living in our bug hotel and practise classification skills through hands-on minibeast exploration 12:30 & 13:30 Tractor Trailer Nature Tours Take a guided ride through the wider landscape, spot wildlife (including deer), and learn about the sites unique habitats. 13:0014:00 Rocket-Making Take part in our popular rocket-making activity, inspired by the iconic Petrel Sounding Rocket. Learn how scientists used rockets to collect data from the upper atmosphere and deepen our understanding of the Earth. Important Information about the Day Tickets must be pre-booked and will not be sold at the venue. Drop in between 10am2.30pm and explore at your own pace. To get the most out of your day, we recommend arriving when doors open. If the weather is suitable, under-18s can enjoy the outdoor playground and green spaces. Please bring a packed lunch; our caf will not be serving food or drink during this event. Accompanying adults and under-3s go free. We kindly ask visitors to be mindful of supplies during hands-on activities to ensure there are enough for everyone.
