J S Bach's brilliant Magnificat - the Song of Mary - is paired with Alec Roth's celebration of times and seasons for the same forces. Roth's carefully selected texts, draw from a very wide variety of sources. He starts with the well-known passage from Ecclesiastes and continues with, amongst many others, poetry from Ovid, Blake, Herrick, Donne, Aphra Behn, and Edward Thomas, all bound into a single musical narrative divided into four sections - Spring Morning; Summer Noon; Autumn Evening; and Winter Night. The work is capped with Proper Exercise, a celebratory after-dance or 'jig' in the Shakespearean tradition, setting words by the bard's contemporary, John Davies. We have a great year lined up and we would like to invite you to join our choir and take part in the local Epsom and wider Surrey community. We are the Epsom rehearsal of the trailblazing Rock Choir. We often team up with the other local Surrey choirs to sing in groups of any size, 100, 500 and even and even 12,000 at the O2 arena in Summer 2013.
