The Maccabees are an English indie rock band, formed in 2004 in London. The band consists of Orlando Weeks, Felix White, Hugo White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle.

Wet Leg’s blend of dry wit and minimalist-punk riffs started off as a joke between Isle of Wight duo Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. However, reality soon hit with their debut single ‘Chaise Longue’ becoming an overnight sensation and clocking up over seven million streams to date. With the numbers initially seeming virtual, it took their set at last year’s Latitude Festival to make it all feel real. After headlining numerous summer festivals, Empire of the Sun will launch an extensive North American headline tour that will give fans the opportunity to see the Australian band in more intimate settings. The fall outing will launch on September 1 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC and will include shows at Pier 26 at Hudson River Park in New York City (September 5) and the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles (October 31). The band is touring in support of its new album, Ice On The Dune (Astralwerks), the follow-up to the 2008 BRIT-nominated, global smash Walking On A Dream. “Alive,” the collection’s first single, is currently No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs chart. The “Alive” video – produced by Kelvin Optical, Inc., a division within Bad Robot – has more than five million views. Empire of the Sun made its U.S. television debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last month and kicked off the new monthly Jimmy Kimmel Live Stream concert series thereafter. The group will headline the HARD Summer 2013, Made in America, Life is Beautiful and Breakaway festivals. Rolling Stone observed, “they pumped up the jams from their just-released dance-pop tour de force Ice on the Dune with a foggy, laser-laden spectacle to dazzle 4 a.m. candy flippers” in a review of the band’s Bonnaroo set while Billboard noted, “Empire of the Sun's crowd never wavered, and soaked in the gonzo electro-pop act.” “Imagine if the centurion world of ‘Sparta’ was transported into the computer game Tron and then cast the replicants from ‘Blade Runner’ as backup dancers: that might give you some indication of the spectacle of an Empire Of The Sun show,” said MTV Australia, covering the band’s performance at the Sydney Opera House. “[Luke] Steele effortlessly held the audience in the palm of his hand with his theatrical performance.” "Wherever you dance this summer, you will be dancing to this record," said Associated Press in a review of Ice On The Dune “Everything about Empire of the Sun is larger than life: The band name, the futuristic stage personas, the Dune-inspired album art and – most importantly – the music,” said Rolling Stone. In 2008, two of Australia’s leading musician/producers, Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau), created a vision that seemed to come from an alternative reality – a post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure known as Empire of the Sun. The resulting album, Walking on a Dream, went on to sell more than a million copies worldwide and contained the singles “We Are The People,” “Standing on the Shore” and the RIAA certified Gold hit “Walking on a Dream.” The album helped spearhead the then-burgeoning EDM movement and earned eight ARIA awards and two BRIT nominations. The adventure continues with Ice On The Dune, which Steele and Littlemore produced with the Walking on a Dream production team. Joining Empire of the Sun as support on their headline dates are Alpine. The Australian sextet released their debut album A Is For Alpine in May 2013 thru Votiv. The album was awarded iTunes’ Australian Alternative Album of the Year, and has received early critical praise from Rolling Stone, USA Today and NPR, with Pitchfork calling it an “unforgettably light and charismatic gem.” Alpine are known for their energetic live shows featuring the double threat of front-women Phoebe Baker and Lou James on lead vocals.
