Frederick's

Frederick's

Great wine, superb food and awesome al fresco dining in their garden during the warmer months.

The De Beauvoir Deli Co.

The De Beauvoir Deli Co.

This is a fab little deli with homemade cakes, tonnes of local produce and some really great cheese! There's always people sat outside enjoying a sandwich and a coffee...

The Sampler

The Sampler

The best place to quaff on the finest wines around without having to buy a bottle! Very highbrow.

The Baring

The Baring

Long lazy Sundays or a swift ale after a busy day at work, The Baring is an ever popular watering hole that also has a serious Tuesday night quiz!

New Culture Revolution

New Culture Revolution

Off the beaten track. Amazing dim sum and very good value for money.

Ottolenghi

Ottolenghi

Not great if you're on a budget. However, if you want to push the boat out and want tasty Turkish-inspired food, you're in luck!

Camden Passage

Camden Passage

Vintage and antiques shops, Camden Passage oozes character and quirkiness with great places to have a coffee or dine. Oh so pretty and quaint!

Towpath

Towpath

I love a weekend walk along Regent's Canal with a glass of rosé from Towpath.

Honest Burgers

Honest Burgers

The Honest Burger cocktails are absolutely fantastic and the staff are exceptionally friendly too!

The Camden Head

The Camden Head

A fantastic boozer in the heart of Camden Passage. Sit out in the beer garden watching the locals mooching around the market stalls.

69 Colebrooke Row

69 Colebrooke Row

One of London's best kept secrets. The size of a small living room, but serving the best experimental cocktails around. The bar uses spirits and drinks that it infuses itself in a drinks laboratory and the staff wear lab coats.

Sourced Market

Sourced Market

I can get the perfect poached eggs on toast in the morning and then go back in the evening for a bottle of craft beer!

The Canonbury Tavern

The Canonbury Tavern

A public house since the early 1700's, The Canonbury Tavern was refurbished in 2009 giving the residents of Islington one of the best pub gardens in the city and a superb roast lunch on a Sunday. Moreover, the beautiful garden offers an escape from chaotic city life.

The Slaughtered Lamb

The Slaughtered Lamb

Great atmosphere, live bands, excellent wine! Sometimes you see the cast of Eastenders and Ed Sheeran in here.

Highbury Arts Club

Highbury Arts Club

Amazing place, so small that you may miss it if it isn't recommended! A family run business close to Highbury Barn, perfect for breakfast, brunch or dinner. They have now started doing jazz nights on a Thursday too.

Why not explore the nearby areas of Islington, Canonbury, Caledonian Road, King's Cross, De Beauvoir Town, Highbury, Hoxton, Clerkenwell, Newington Green and Holloway

"The first canned food was patented by a merchant in Hoxton called Peter Durand in 1810. Sadly the invention of the can opener was still fifty years away and they had to be opened by a hammer!"

Canonbury and Islington are renowned for their beautiful Regency architecture that attracts so many of the local residents.

Alongside all the restaurants and bars that make Upper Street so popular are the architectural gems that add character to the area.

What locals say about Islington and surrounding areas

  1. I love Newington Green because of the close community and village atmosphere. The proximity to Clissold and Church Street is handy, but Newington Green has most of what you need. This part of Green Lanes is really changing for the better and it's an exciting place to go now!
