Over the past four decades, Jez Lowe has been one of the UK’s busiest singer-songwriters, playing for audiences the world over, performing his brilliant and extensive repertoire accompanied by guitar, cittern, mandolin and harmonica. He has taken his songs of North-East England to concerts and festivals all across Europe, Canada and the USA. Along the way he has gathered a long list of awards and nominations, including from the BBC Folk Awards and the Sony Radio Awards. His pace and enthusiasm for writing, performing and touring show no sign of waning – thank goodness!

In 2009, SNEZ released her debut album Gypsy Soul, and there began her journey as a travelling storyteller, with guitar in hand, SNEZ has spent the last 15 years roaming remote and regional Australia, playing country halls, house concerts, indigenous schools, festivals and even refugee camps and camp fires along the way; squeezing her world into a camper- van for months at a time. Erato’s May concert sets the scene with the vibrant opening of Thomas Arne’s 2nd Symphony. Followed by Haydn’s famous ‘Farewell’ Symphony No.45 providing an element of drama in which the string players leaving early was a pointed hint to his employer. After the interval strings are again centre stage with the serene, noble writing of Sibelius’ Andante Festivo for Strings. The lively finale of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola is a joyous way to round off the evening.
