COURSE DESCRIPTION An introduction to deaf-ness and the deaf community. Ideal for creatives and producers who would like to be more inclusive in their practice. This course will cover deaf culture, history, stigma and myths, working with and communicating with Deaf creatives and audiences, and using hearing assisted technology This course will also include an introduction to British Sign Language, fingerspelling and BSL grammar, basic signs and basic signs specifically for theatre. YOUR COURSE LEADER Rebecca Lyon works as a theatre technician and designs and develops courses in health and safety for an online training company. The surrounding area is a tranquil conservation area comprising Childs Place, Kenway Road, Wallgrave Road and Redfield Lane contains fine examples of more modest terraced townhouses painted in pastel shades in a very picturesque setting with some fine floral displays.
