Deptford Northern Soul Club (DNSC) are childhood friends Will Foot and Lewis Henderson, whose early love of soul developed after discovering Lewis’ Dad’s record collection. After bringing their musical heritage to the forefront with their debut DJ set at Deptford’s Bunker Club 7 years ago, they have since taken their credible and popular club night around the UK, performing at the likes of Glastonbury, Green Man and End of the Road, with regular residencies at London’s EartH and Moth Club and YES in Manchester. DNSC have emerged as the new face of Northern Soul, bringing the movement back into the conversation of modern dance music. With a welcoming and inclusive community and a unique youth culture feel, their nights are not what you’d expect from a typical Northern Soul night and allow people to forge their own experience with the genre. Alongside their popular club nights, Will and Lewis run a modern reissue label, DNSC Records in association with PIAS, enabling soul lovers to experience Northern Soul tracks as they were meant to be heard. “We have never been interested in nostalgia - we love soul music because it’s brilliant. Matmos will be pefroming live in Hackney's favourite independent art deco cinema! Matmos Based in Baltimore, Matmos is Drew Daniel and M.C. Schmidt. The two have been making music as Matmos since 1997, first in San Francisco, and then relocating to Baltimore in 2007 when Daniel began to teach at Johns Hopkins University. They are respected, innovative auteurs in the world of electronic music and sampling culture whose very first album was hailed as “entering electronics Valhalla” by the WIRE magazine for sampling highly unusual sound sources such as the amplified nerve tissue of crayfish.
