Fire And Rain & American Pie
HORSLEY LIVE MUSIC CLUB AND ST MARTINS CHURCH PRESENT:
FIRE AND RAIN & AMERICAN PIE atST MARTINS CHURCH, EAST HORSLEY
FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2025
'FIRE & RAIN & AMERICAN PIE' is a heart-warming, musical homage to the great American singer-songwriters of the late 60s and early 70s, featuring beautiful timeless songs from artists like James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Don Mclean, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Simon & Garfunkel, America, The Byrds, Mamas and Papas and Carly Simon.
We are delighted to welcome back Paul, Sophie and the band to East Horsley. They last appeared here two years ago, when they played for us at the Nomad Theatre. Everyone loved the show and agreed that we really must ask them back. Well, here they are: so please make sure you don't miss the show this time.
The show features an excellent five-piece band performing classic songs from this golden era, such as: Youve got a Friend, American Pie, Fire and Rain, Big Yellow Taxi, Vincent, Horse with no Name, Mrs Robinson, Make it with you, Feelin Groovy, California Dreaming, Youre So Vain, Woodstock and many more! The show has a relaxed acoustic style, matching the spirit of this era, when many of these artists were neighbours in the Laurel Canyon suburb of L.A.
With an intimate nostalgic narrative including images from that time, the show is sometimes poignant, sometimes amusing, always delightful. It is produced and hosted by singer-guitarist Paul Wheeler (TV Director, Live at the Apollo and 'Have I Got News for You') with Sophie Langham (West-End actress-singer and formerly Eastenders). This is a truly excellent show - brilliantly conceived and beautifully executed. For a flavour, watch the YouTube video below - just click on the arrow!
The Church - and bar - will be open at 7.00 and the music will start at 7.30, with an interval, finishing at 10.00. The show is fully-seated: please note that seats are unallocated. Profits from refreshments will be donated to Cherry Trees, our local children's charity.
