Those of you who have seen Sunjay at our club before will know that he is a first-rate highly-talented musician, and charismatic performer. He was a finalist in the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. in the same year he won the Wath Festival Young Performers Award and was also a winner at the New Roots Competition in St Albans. He has since been nominated for numerous other prestigious awards. He has supported many top-flight artists including Wizz Jones and John Renbourn, Steeleye Span, Curved Air, Fairport Convention, Phil Beer, and Graham Gouldman of 10cc. Sunjay is a lifelong fan of Buddy Holly, so it was undoubtedly a pleasure for him to tour with the travelling theatre show "Buddy Holly and The Crickets", in which he played the titular pop singer. I had the pleasure of seeing him in the rôle at the Beck, and if we are lucky, we may get to hear one or two Buddy Holly songs scattered between the more bluesy numbers when Sunjay plays for us at the club.
