Great White Lies
This is the story of three insecure men who frame a shark for murder because they think sharks have been sleeping with their wives. If you think youve heard this one, youre not alone 67 million Americans saw Jaws when it was first released fifty years ago, and its about time someone told us what really happened on Amity Island that fateful summer.
Great White Lies is the story of Jaws from the sharks perspective. A sweet, sensitive soul just fighting the good fight for every little shark with a dream, the (anthropomorphic) Sharks fate falls into the wrong hands when he befriends Ellen, the wife of sullen, so-called-protagonist Police Chief Martin Brody.
After a few dead bodies start washing up on the beaches of Amity Island, deranged fisherman Quint convinces the increasingly jealous Brody to frame the Shark for the deaths and hunt him down for good.
Great White Lies is a new(ish) comedy written and directed by Leo Thomas. After a sell-out one-night-only performance in a dimly-lit lecture hall at York University in 2022, Great White Lies makes its grand return to the stage with an (almost) all-new cast and (almost) all-new script.
In an increasingly troubled world, Thomas script is designed bring its audience an hour of unbridled laughs and, hopefully, change an opinion or two about sharks.
Thick Fog is a new production company of both stage and screen founded by York University alumni. Their past credits feature several Edinburgh Fringe shows, with Thomas serving as head writer and producer for sketch comedy troupe The Dead Ducks five-star show Abominations of Comedy in 2022 (reminiscent of Monty Python Broadway World). Their debut short film Recipe For Carbonara is currently premiering at several festivals.
