Independent art retailer BobCat Gallery will host a showcase of textile artworks in their Putney space this January. Co-curated by gallery Founder, Catherine Sweet, with textile artist and costume maker Elly Platt, ‘(IM)Material’ will focus on fresh and unusual techniques applied by artists who work with a variety of textiles in their practice. BobCat Gallery is committed to making original artwork more accessible, through both physical and virtual exhibitions and events. Featuring 50+ artists from all over the UK as well as the USA, Spain and Ukraine, (IM)Material will include stitching, weaving, quilting, tapestry, knitting and crochet as well as new and intriguing applications for fabrics and threads. Catherine says: “Textile art is one of our oldest art forms, and yet I am constantly fascinated by how contemporary creatives continue to push boundaries, as well as incorporating diverse narratives into their work. My vision for this show was to focus on the materiality of these works, and the fascinating ways that these artists manipulate their materials to show us their unique perspectives. I’m delighted to be working with talented artist and designer Elly to bring this collection to life.” Elly says: “As a costume maker and textile artist, I think the materiality of textiles is one of the most valuable things about them. Textiles hold memory and stories; they evoke a sense of time and place. They can be everyday ephemera or precious heirlooms, and they connect us with generations past through the act of making. Textiles are one of the fundamental things that connect us as humans, so it’s wonderful to bring together work by talented artists who share the love of this medium.” As part of the wider exhibition, there will be a dedicated selection of works from members of international arts organisation ArtCan. ArtCan is an artist-led, non-profit organisation, working alongside established galleries and also seeking new spaces to involve audiences in an organic and personal way. Event Summary When the lights are turned off, your hearing is heightened and the music sounds better than ever. Experience music as you never heard it before in the Screening Room at Olympic Studios with their iconic Flare surround sound system. Recordings of classical masterpieces are played with the lights dimmed to minimum levels (and eye masks provided for a full black-out) so that you can savour every note and experience a different and deeper way of listening to great music. This year we are delighted that musician conductor Calum Zuckert, who is also the Rector of Barnes, is curating the programme based on the festival theme and his wide musical knowledge.

“Let the World Be a Question”: Monika Lidke Album Launch! Monika’s band will perform songs from their album “Let the World Be a Question” and beloved jazz standards in their unique, jazz-folk style with Latin accents. Line up: Monika Lidke - vocals Matt Chandler - guitar Tom Ollendorff – guitar Jakub Cywinski - double bass Adam Teixeira - drums Monika Lidke is a singer-songwriter of Polish origin, currently living in London. She creates exciting and original music that truly connects with the audience. Her songs blend jazz, folk, and Latin grooves with Polish and French roots to create a mesmerising live show. Her debut album, Waking Up to Beauty, was released in 2008, shortly after moving to the UK from Paris. The album achieved critical acclaim around Europe, especially in Poland, where it was championed by well-known radio presenter Marek Niedźwiecki, who described it as “beautiful, delicate, addictive!” Monika’s subsequent albums – ‘If I Was to Describe You’ (2014), ‘Gdyby każdy z nas’ (2017), and ‘Let the World Be a Question’ further explore songwriting within the wide umbrella of jazz, world, and folk music, featuring collaborations with outstanding guests including Basia Trzetrzelewska, Janek Gwizdala, Marek Napiórkowski and Shez Raja, and resulting in invitations to perform at prestigious venues such as Agnieszka Osiecka Studio in Warsaw, Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Jazz Club, 606 Club, as well as major festivals including the London Jazz Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival, Jazzahead, and Rhythms of the World Festival. A keen collaborator, Monika co-writes songs for film and TV with international composers, poets, and lyricists.

In the intimate surroundings of Kensington United Reformed Church, in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, a small chamber orchestra will perform Joe Hisaishis iconic score music that has become inseparable from the films magic. From the gentle wonder of One Summers Day to the wistful beauty of Reprise, each piece captures Miyazakis gift for blending the fantastical with the deeply human. This is more than a concert its a journey to a place where spirits whisper, trains glide across quiet waters, and memories linger in the air.
