We enter a new month with a new branch in Peckham! But the Sales Manager is certainly not a stranger to the area. We get the insider’s story from Nick Stops on the best places to go to and why he’s chosen Peckham as his place to call home.

How long have you lived in Peckham?

Nick: I’ve lived in Peckham for just over three years now and stayed in two different flats - both within 500m of the new Foxtons branch!

What do you like best about Peckham?

Nick: What I love about Peckham is that there is no need to leave the area for food or entertainment, but you still have fantastic accessibility to central London. Queens Road Peckham Station is only 12 minutes away from London Bridge Station, while Peckham Rye Station is just 13 minutes walk from Victoria Station.

Where’s your favourite place to go for a bite to eat?

Nick: In my opinion, the best place for lunch is Cravings La Carreta. It’s a small Mexican place you could easily end up walking right past as it’s hidden away next to the White Horse pub, but it’s well worth looking out for as it serves up delicious food.

Where’s your favourite place to go for a pint?

Nick: The Rye is a brilliant pub. It has a range of good, honest ales and you can watch the rugby on the big screen. A Sunday well spent!

Where’s the best place to go for a night out?

Nick: If you’re looking for something a bit different, The Four Quarters is great for a night out. It’s an arcade bar that combines gaming (all the classics) with drinking. They even have one-off parties and film screenings.

How has Peckham changed in the time you’ve been there?

Nick: There have been a lot of new restaurants and bars in the area, including The Four Quarters I just mentioned. I’ve found that most of the new locals have come from typically trendy areas like Shoreditch - walking through the Rye you’re more likely to see someone wearing brogues and no socks rather than walking boots.

Funniest thing you’ve seen in Peckham?

Nick: People taking photos of the Reliant Regal from Only fools and Horses. It’s funny because even though Only Fools and Horses series revolved around Peckham, it was actually filmed in Bristol. Also, the famous car is currently based outside a pizza restaurant for some reason.

Something non-locals might not know about Peckham?

Nick: Most people know about the Bussey Building that has a rooftop bar which lets you take in stunning views while having relatively cheap drinks, but something less people are aware of is the range of restaurants and cafes out the back of the Bussey Building that are well worth exploring.

How do you feel about the new office in Peckham?

Nick: I’m really looking forward to the office opening. Peckham is an incredibly exciting area of London with lots of potential and I look forward to seeing it develop. An added bonus is that my commute now only takes around 5 minutes!
