As you can see from the map graphic above (cheapest boroughs shown in dark green), it is east London that dominates our list of the most affordable London areas.
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is at the top with the lowest average house price of £285,085, although the surrounding boroughs of Bexley and Havering are close behind.
While there is a considerable £124,163 difference between the top and bottom places on this cheapest places to buy in London list, the figures are a far cry from the average property price in London's most expensive borough, Kensington and Chelsea, which stands at £1,369,708.
