Shepherd’s Bush is a West London classic. Historic home of the BBC, this neighbourhood remains artistic and diverse with world-class education, a traditional marketplace, nearby green spaces and excellent transport connections…really, all of the things that Londoners love about this city wrapped up in one neighbourhood.

Keys to the City

Shepherd’s Bush is the first stop outside Zone 1, just 12 minutes to Oxford Circus.

For the enterprising upstart, the greatest thing about living in Shepherd’s Bush (or SheBu if you’re far too busy for full names) is the connectivity. Not only is it easy to explore London’s many iconic sites, but London has some of the best access to world-leading and up-and-coming businesses. Your home in Shepherd’s Bush puts you right on their doorstep.

For instance, it’s an easy commute to Disney and L'Oréal headquarters just in Hammersmith. You’ve got access to the Central line, which is the fast track into the city. Plus, Hammersmith and City, the Circle Line and the Overground to get out to Willesden Junction in the north and Clapham Junction in the south.

Do you travel the world for work (or fun)? Jump on the M4 and you’ll be at Heathrow Airport in 30 minutes (or if you’re avoiding airport parking, the Underground takes about 45). As the largest UK airport with the most international destinations, Heathrow will help you get wherever you need to go.

Chez Bu: where to live in Shepherd’s Bush

“I would say Brook Green and Brackenbury Village, W6, are two of the most desirable places to buy in the area,” our Shepherd’s Bush Sales Manager recommends. These areas have highly regarded schools, picturesque green spaces and the most incredible property – beautiful Victorian and Edwardian townhouses with enviable original features.

There’s another area to highlight if you’re looking for a modern, brand-new home. White City is an area of massive change, abounding with luxury brands and grand new build property developments – White City House may be Soho House’s finest development.

Shepherd’s Bush is really an area for all walks of life, and we see renters and buyers coming here for all sorts of property – spacious detached houses for families to buy and raise their children in as well as stylish studio flats for busy professionals who want to rent in a lively and exciting neighbourhood.

A great place for growing minds

The educational opportunities in London are a huge draw for the international community, and Shepherd’s Bush is outstanding in this criterion. There’s a host of very good schools in the area, especially when you wrap in Brook Green, as Godolphin and Latymer and St Paul’s are renowned. University students abound in Shepherd’s Bush as well, attending Imperial College’s medical campus and London College of Fashion.

Arts, culture and entertainment

Shepherd’s Bush Empire is a famous concert hall where the most renowned artists have played, including Prince, Amy Winehouse, Adele and The Rolling Stones.

Loftus Road is the stadium where the beloved local Football Club, the Queens Park Rangers, play. A famous and historic team, with many long-term residents of Shepherd’s Bush remaining loyal fans.

Beside the railway arches, Shepherd’s Bush Market is an icon. More than 100 years old, it hosts a diverse range of traders selling everything – fresh meat, fabric, street food, homeware and antique finds.

A key component

Diversity is a real hallmark of London, and you’ll find it in abundance around Shepherd’s Bush, “the nice thing about Shepherd’s Bush, for me, is that you get so many different walks of life, different faiths, lifestyles and cuisines. You have lots of big brands, corner shops and everything in between.”

Reputation as a stalwart

Shepherd’s Bush has got an unwavering old-London style. There have been additions such as Westfield, the enormous shopping mall with over 400 shops, and in any other neighbourhood that would change the fabric of the area.

However, our Sales Manager says, “It’s still Shepherd’s Bush, still a bullet-proof market and a proud local community. Westfield, for example, has brought loads of people coming in, international visitors who want to get all their brand-name souvenirs and Londoners doing their Christmas shopping, and there are a lot of new things coming in White City and with Olympia, but all of that, it’s all part of life in Shepherd’s Bush.” There’s a buzz in Shepherd’s Bush around the upcoming Olympia development just south of the area, which is about to be completed with over a billion pounds of investment.

It’ll include globally renowned 6* hotels, a 4,400-capacity live music venue and 2.5 acres of public space. There will be a massive injection of new businesses with 550,000 sq ft of office space and a dizzying range of restaurants and bars. It will also be a haven for the creative soul, with a school for creative arts, 4 major exhibition halls and the new National Theatre.

With an inspired mix of business and culture, Olympia is ideal for an area that’s welcomed so many big-ticket projects and still retains its London character.

Investment potential

With its strong local economy and excellent transportation links, property buyers and buy to let landlords keep their eye on Shepherd’s Bush. The neighbourhood has experienced significant regeneration in recent years, and as this gem is polished, demand for residential property is expected to continue growing.
