Tim Whitehead
Tim Whitehead is renowned throughout the UK, Europe and the USA as a remarkable performer and composer with a dazzling CV. In the 70’s he toured with Ian Carr’s “Nucleus” and “Graham Collier Music” winning the Young Jazz Musician of the Year Award on the way. In the 80’s he was a member of the ground breaking big band Loose Tubes and in the 90’s he made several critically acclaimed albums, winning The Andrew Milne Award for Jazz, as well as the BBC Music Magazine Jazz Album of the Year. As further testament to his extraordinary talent, in 2009 he was the first ever musician to be made Artist in Residence at Tate Britain, resulting in a number of brilliant gigs, a highly acclaimed album “Colour Beginnings” and a short-listing for the British Composer Of The Year Award. Researching Muslim heritage sites in Waltham Forest
Join Waltham Forest Archives and AbdulMaalik Tailor for a talk about how Muslim heritage sites in the borough were discovered, including the site of Londons first known public Eid prayers at the Royal Forest Hotel in Chingford in 1894, which received a local heritage blue plaque. AbdulMaalik Tailor will be sharing how he researched the borough's Muslim history and went on to develop his research into a successful and popular heritage walk. About AbdulMaalik Tailor Multi-awardwinning AbdulMaalikTailor is a convert to the Islamic faith. He lives in Waltham Forest and is Britains first professionally qualified Muslim tour guide.He also rediscovered Londons first known Mosque of 1895 which will be receiving a plaque soon. About Waltham Forest Archives and Local Studies Library We hold a wide range of manuscripts, printed and pictorial collections which can be used to research the development of our borough and its communities, the history of your house or street, or your family history in Waltham Forest.
