This is a one-act comedic opera full of emotion, humour and chaos which follows the court case of Angelina and Edwin after she claims he has broken his word to marry her. How will the trial unfold? A truly unbelievable series of events, youll have to see it to believe it! The Garsington Opera Adult Company is made up of participants from the Garsingtons local community who come together to rehearse and perform at Garsington Studios. Each year they present at least one production featuring professional soloists, players and creative team, and Trial by Jury will be their Barnes Music Festival debut. After the interval, Bachs Trio Sonata No. 5 in C showcases contrapuntal intricacy, leading to Mendelssohns Sonata No. 1 in F minor, which combines Romantic expression with Classical clarity.Battiwallas expertise across genres illuminates the Festivals theme of Musical Roots, which connect centuries of organ tradition.

She was awarded the Guildhall Artist Fellowship twice after completing a Masters Degree in Historical Performance at the institution. This recital traces musical roots across borders, politics, and time. George Frederic Handel, who lived for a period in Barnes, is represented by two dazzling harpsichord suites, including the famous Harmonious Blacksmith variations. His contemporary Domenico Scarlatti, whose career spanned Italy, Portugal, and Spain, is heard in a vivid selection of sonatas and fiery Fandango. Although their paths first crossed in Italy, both composers later became entangled in the political and cultural currents of 18th-century London, where Scarlattis sonatas even appeared in a striking Jacobite edition. Their music reflects not only virtuosity and invention but also the shifting allegiances of their world. Bringing the story closer to home, the programme also honours Barnes-based composer Stephen Dodgson (19242013), whose Inventions connect modern creativity with the harpsichords long tradition. A play with music by award-winning writer, Clare Norburn and BAFTA-nominated BBC director, Nicholas Renton (Mrs Gaskell's Wives and Daughters, Musketeers, Lewis). The very private PL Travers lives quietly in Chelsea. Out of the blue, her very own creation, Mary Poppins, suddenly appears in Travers' study, asking difficult questions Travers would rather not answer. Rather than the Banks family, Mary Poppins has come to sort out the acerbic PL Travers herself. But Travers is a force to be reckoned with too. So who will control the narrative and win the battle of wills? The fun-filled chaos is soundtracked by the kind of music PL Travers really wanted in the Mary Poppins film (Edwardian songs such as Lily of Laguna). Starring acclaimed actor Lottie Walker as PL Travers and a TBC actor-musician as Mary Poppins.

Experience the beauty of wetlands through art. Discover the work of wildlife artist Tracy Newman, whose art is deeply inspired by the landscapes, birds and wetlands that align so closely with our mission. Tracy’s fascination with wildlife began at an early age, growing up near the Welsh border and surrounded by nature. A childhood visit to our main site, WWT Slimbridge, sparked a lifelong passion for drawing and painting ducks, geese and swans, a connection that continues to shape his work today. Trained at Newport College of Art and the Cardiff School of Art, Tracy has built a career spanning wildlife art, graphic design and illustration. After returning to Wales in 2018, he renewed his focus on painting and drawing wildlife and now also explores sculpture, collaborating with renowned Peruvian sculptor Oswaldo Mierhar. Together, they have produced work for clients and galleries across the UK. This exhibition brings together a collection of Tracy’s wildlife-inspired pieces, many of which reflect the species and environments found across our sites.
