Forage for natural materials to use to print onto fabric and paper using the Japanese Hapa Zome hammering technique. Take home a unique piece of art. Who and what is sacrificed on a heros quest? While embarking on his epic journey, a Hero is ensnared and confronted by a Spirit who, cursed to deliver her message only through metaphor, attempts to impress upon the Hero the answers to these questions through myths, ancient tales, and folk ballads. Familiar folk songs are newly adapted and classic folk tales are reimagined in a North American setting in this modern, surreal fairytale. Recommended Age: 8+ Part of the Fireside Folktales Fringe.

The story of Dedalus and Icarus as told by the Nobel Prize-winning Dario Fo, translated into English, and adapted for our modern age in celebration of the centennial of the Italian masters birth. It relates the story of Icarus, not as the downfall of an arrogant and prideful youth as he is so often portrayed but rather as a cautionary tale against fleeing the world we live in, in favour of the comforts of fantasy. Drawing on both autobiographical accounts of the performer and the fictional, but transcendent, friendship of Jane and Helen in Jane Eyre , Resurgam explores the legacy of the unnoticed, and the hope for new dreams amid the ashes. Her credits as a fight performer include The Witcher (Seasons 2-5), Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power , S tar Wars: Andor , Hijack , Slow Horses , Grand Theft Auto VI , and more. This workshop is open to all fitness levels and teaches you about the illusion of sword fighting for film and theatre. The emphasis is on safety and making you and your partner look epic. As darkness falls WWT London Wetland Centre becomes a truly magical place and one of the best places in London to see bats as they fly in at night to feed over our lakes and ponds. Children can now join us on a nocturnal adventure to find these mysterious creatures, using special bat detectors to hear their hunting calls. We finish up around the camp fire to share our stories and toast marshmallows. Suitable for children aged 7+ Children must be accompanied by an adult but due to capacity please note there is a limit of one adult per booking The gate will open 30 minutes prior to the event start time so please make sure you arrive in time as we will not be able to admit late arrivals. Meeting Point: Main entrance gate with parking access, walk to the admissions entrance, a member of staff will greet you upon arrival. All visitors should come in by the main gate to the Centre. Please note that gates open 30 minutes before start time and are locked 30 minutes after the start time. There will be a short break, so please bring snacks and a drink. Although the site is well surfaced, we recommend wearing sensible shoes and bringing clothing suitable for the weather. Bear in mind that even in summer it can be chilly at night. Torches are allowed, but follow all instructions from group leaders on their use so we’re successful at finding bats and don’t scare them.. At the end, we have marshmallows for everyone to roast over a fire. They’re suitable for most diets (Vegan-friendly marshmallows are available), however, they may contain traces of nuts so are not suitable for people with a nut allergy. Feel free to bring your own alternative if you’d like!
