North East London's transformation has gone from strength to strength over the past decade and as lettings prices increase, it's no secret that properties in the region are in high demand. In particular, Walthamstow has welcomed a number of major projects, including the joint venture investment on the arcade on Hoe Street, creating a new commercial complex in the town centre with a cinema and a selection of restaurants. With regards to transport links, the Victoria Line has always provided a fast connection to central London, but opening in Spring 2016 is the much anticipated reopening of Lea Bridge Station that will offer a direct route from Walthamstow to Stratford International. The abundance of green space and the high proportion of freehold and `Warner' homes also attracts families and professionals alike, who are drawn by the affordable yet future-proof homes in a commutable distance of central London with their own front doors and gardens.
As London's suburbs expand and buyers look further afield for the right property at the right price, areas in North East London like Stoke Newington and Walthamstow are benefiting greatly from increased interest and redevelopment. In Walthamstow, Waltham Forest Council is investing money to improve and change the face of the neighbourhood, encompassing regeneration of the Blackhorse Lane area to provide new homes and jobs over the next 10 years and the submission of planning applications to overhaul the Marlowe Road Estate, which will hopefully begin in January 2016. There's also the Mini Holland scheme funded by the Mayor of London, which is designed to cut down traffic and improve cycling routes in the neighbourhood to make the area safer for both adults and children. Plus there's the redevelopment of what will now be known as Waltham Forest Leisure Centre and a proposal to make Lloyd Park and the vicinity a conservation area, to be funded by the council too.
