London's undiscovered buyer hotspots

One of the best ways to predict the next hottest place to buy in London is to look at areas currently topping the charts and see what's close by. The undiscovered neighbourhoods are usually waiting there in the shadows for their time to shine, but today we reveal exactly where the undiscovered buyer hotspots are.

These areas all remain under the radar for now, which is why you should consider buying a property here in 2018.

Nunhead

London

You'll recognise that with most regeneration in London, improvements usually radiate out from one area to the next. This means that the new trendy amenities and growing reputation of Peckham and New Cross will soon drive businesses and buyers to Nunhead – although it's falling under the radar for now.

South and south-east London are known for their fashionable hotspots, such as Peckham and Brixton, which are popular with London's artistic crowd. Young families, first-time buyers and students find their way to these areas for their vibrancy and independent feel – and because they are generally cheaper than their counterparts north of the river.

But Nunhead is definitely more green and quiet compared to its neighbours, which makes it popular with families.

There's Telegraph Hill Park to the east and Peckham Rye Park to the west, as well as its most important landmark, Nunhead Cemetery, which is one of London's 'Magnificent Seven' found across the capital.

Rows of Victorian and Edwardian houses line Nunhead's streets and it remains fairly untouched by developers for now. But we predict that it won't be long before Nunhead starts appearing on lists as one of the 'hottest places to buy in London'.

Motspur Park

London

Bordered by New Malden, Raynes Park and Worcester Park, Motspur Park is a residential area interspersed with parkland. Its name doesn't carry perhaps the same weight as more popular New Malden, but this is reflected in the property prices.

The suburbs making up this part of London consist of mainly 1930s housing, which is the reason why you'll find many families in this area.

It's one of the places set to be serviced by Crossrail 2, which would mean a doubling of the current number of services that run through Motspur Park Station. As with the pattern of growth in areas situated on the new Crossrail line, you can expect great things to happen to Motspur Park's property market if the project were to go ahead.

It's just one stop from Raynes Park and it takes around 25 minutes to get to London Waterloo at the moment, so it's real core commuter land around here.

Motspur Park is also home to Fulham FC's training ground.

South Croydon

London

Croydon, and particularly East Croydon, has found itself at the top of property hotspot lists for the past year or two, mainly because of the ongoing transformation of the area that wasn't even considered London that long ago by buyers. There are a lot opportunities if you want to rent with Buy to Let here, check it out on our Buy to Let hotspots blog.

But not far from the centre, South Croydon has been overlooked and remains one of London's undiscovered areas for buyers.

It's a 15 minute walk from Croydon's High Street, there's a fantastic bus network in Croydon that connects the town with the rest of south London and central parts of the capital, and South Croydon Station has services to both London Victoria and London Bridge in as little as 30 minutes.

A mix of property types in South Croydon means there is great choice for first-time buyers through to large families and the prices are generally lower than properties closer to the centre of Croydon.

While the hype surrounds East Croydon at the moment, don't forget to consider South Croydon if you're buying a property in 2018.

Eastcote

London

Residents of this part of north-west London sing its praises as the perfect place for 'raising the children', owing to the great state and independent schools in the area. We meet eager couples buying properties in the catchments before they've even started trying for children!

Located between Ruislip and Harrow, Eastcote has less of an English market town vibe than Ruislip and it's not quite as prestigious as Harrow. But it's an ideal place for families looking for the convenience of out-of-town shopping centres, large supermarkets and access to the underground.

In fact, journeys into central London from Eastcote Underground Station take just 35 minutes, using either the Metropolitan line or the Piccadilly.
