Chiswick is one of the most sought-after locations in West London. Its rich history is unmatched, from being the home to the oldest brewery in London (yes, really), to having built up areas situated over a 17th century battle ground. This district is a stone’s throw away from central London, yet it boasts a more relaxed tone compared to the business of the city. As you stroll along Chiswick High Road or even along the Thames, you’ll find a plethora of restaurants and pubs. Who doesn’t love that?

So, if you’re wanting to know the best places to eat and drink in this gorgeous area, you’re in luck. Our friends at DesignMyNight have guest written the perfect guide to help you pick, all within walking distance of your new Chiswick home.

The Lamb

Take a step back in time (to 1642 to be exact) to The Lamb, a traditional British pub that stands on the site where the Battle of Turnham Green took place. It’s the perfect spot for those wishing to know more about Chiswick’s rich antiquity. You have the option to stay cosy inside whilst admiring the exposed brickwork and floral interiors, or step outside in the beautiful garden for a cheeky cocktail. Situated along the lively Chiswick High Road, this idyllic little spot will definitely make you fall in love with the area – if you hadn’t fallen head over heels already, that is.

Their attention to detail is unmatched, as they provide a plethora of wines to enjoy whilst matching the tastes with the delights served on the menu. This classy establishment boasts a bright and refreshing atmosphere, featuring a large skylight allowing the natural light to pour in. If you fancy heading here after work to unwind after a hard day’s graft or would love to show off your new Chiswick postcode, then Vinoteca can accommodate.

Betty

If you hadn’t noticed already, Chiswick is packed with history. Another addition to the area's historical landmarks is Betty. The venue’s industrial look consists of exposed steelwork and hard flooring, attributing to its past when it used to operate as a wallpaper factory. It’s now a Chiswick favourite, serving up 58 self-dispense wines – which you pour yourself, FYI. It’s been branded as the perfect spot for all occasions, whether that’s going for a drink with friends, booking a romantic meal for date night or watching football on the big screen. Plus if you’re a lover of seafood then this place has plenty to offer, including £1.50 oysters on Tuesdays.

George IV

Fullers Brewery, the oldest and largest of its kind in London, is one of Chiswick’s glorified gems. As well as being able to have tours of the actual brewery, why not step inside one of their award-winning pubs, like The George IV. Aside from their vast selection of beers and ales, they also have a tasty menu, with traditional roasts being served on Sundays. You can also head down for a night of comedy on Friday and Saturday nights, or grab a board game to go head-to-head with friends. This place will become a beloved spot to take friends and family when showing them around your new area.

Chiswick’s scenic walks along the River Thames also allow you to take a much-needed step back from the hustle and bustle. When walking, you’re sure to come across the Bell and Crown, a scenic venue with the personality of a countryside pub. In case you didn’t know, this is another Fuller’s venue, so you’re pretty much guaranteed a top time. Be sure to try out the pub classics on the menu, or the chef’s specials for an extra treat. Whatever the weather or occasion, Bell and Crown have your back.
