For us, nothing compares to living in the London. Go into any Foxtons office and they'll be happy to tell you why their little patch of the Big Smoke is the best. You may think we are biased as London’s leading agent, but we’ve found just the report to prove London really is the best city.

Resonance, a global tourism adviser, has built what they describe as the “most comprehensive city ranking on the planet.” In spite of challenges raised by the pandemic (and Brexit, and government changes) this report found London to be the World’s Best City in 2023, for the seventh year in a row.

See more London love in: 8 studies that highlight London's greatness.

This report analysed 110 of the world’s major cities through a range of quantifiable criteria; the number of Global 500 headquarters, how often the sun shines, the GDP per capita, the quality of museums, labour force participation, the restaurant scene and Trustpilot reviews – just to name a few. Of all the cities, in London you'll find the most number one rankings.

Here are a few key highlights:

Cultivating curiosity

In terms of the percentage of the population with a bachelor’s degree or higher, London has the best-educated population on the planet.

According to Resonance’s report, London is the fourth best city in the world for restaurants. Although a number of the most iconic restaurants in London shut their doors due to the pandemic, the appetite for dining out has now returned in full force, leading to what Resonance call a 'culinary rebirth.'

There are a wealth of big-name openings launching in the coming months, and plenty of room in the culinary scene for new restaurateurs to make their name in our city. It's a very good time to be a foodie in London.

A culture vulture’s paradise

One area where London topped the charts was the breadth and quality of our museums. There are over 170 museums in London and you can visit plenty of them for free - an excellent free day out for families!

Explore world history and masterpieces in museums like the Natural History Museum, The British Museum and the Tate Modern. Or maybe you’re looking for something a bit more niche, like the Museum of Brands, Charles Dickens Museum, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, The Cartoon Museum, Magic Circle Museum, the London Postal Museum… there really is something here for everyone.
