London Buyer Guide: the cheapest areas to buy your home

There are a lot of different things that affect house price, and there are lovely properties worth their price in any corner of London. However, to get your search started, let's look at the latest Land Registry numbers. Here are the areas with the lowest average house price in every London region.

Central London: Whitechapel

Local attractions: Spitalfields Market, Whitechapel Art Gallery and Brick Lane

Transport: One of the best for commuters, with easy links through the Overground, District, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Central, Circle, DLR and Elizabeth lines.

North London: Alperton

Average Land Registry sold price: £371,200 | Browse our homes for sale in Alperton

Alperton has an ideal location, near enough Wembley Stadium for your pick of entertainment, peaceful roads of family homes, lovely canal views and easy transport in and out of London.

Local attractions: Wembley Stadium, Grand Union Canal, Ealing Road

Transport: Alperton has excellent transportation links to the West End and City. Also, construction is progressing on a massive transport interchange in Old Oak, as well as improvements to the existing North Acton and Willesden Junction stations, and new Overground stations. With upcoming additions to the local transport links, this is set to be one of the best-connected areas of London.

South London: Deptford

Deptford has an urban-cool personality. A historic docklands between Greenwich and Bermondsey, it has it's own maritime history and so much personality packed in its bustling streets. Its well connected and boasts a lot of homes with gorgeous waterfront views.

Local attractions: Deptford Market Yard, The Albany Theatre, Master Shipwright's House

Transport: both Depford Station and New Cross Station are on the Overground, and the DLR in neighbouring Greenwich is also handy.

East London: Barking

Barking has a motivated and multicultural community, buoyed by the success of the Overground extension in 2022 and fast-developing through exciting new regeneration projects.

Local attractions: Barking Park, Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking Abbey

Transport: Excellent transport through the District and Hammersmith and City tubes, Overground and a connection to the Elizabeth line at Forest Gate

West London: Northholt

A lovely suburb in Ealing, Norholt is excellent for families with big green spaces, lots of residential property to choose from and easy transport into London.

Local attractions: Northala Hills, the Grand Union Canal and nearby Ealing Broadway and Westfield Shopping Centres

Transport: Northholt has a Zone 5 underground station on the Central line, as well as a railway station with Chiltern Railways and Central Line connections
