Where to be when London hits 35°C

Down at street level, the pavements are giving back the heat they have been storing all day. Corner shops are running low on ice. The replacement buses are full and slow. Up on the tenth floor at Bloom East, the sun is the kind Londoners actually like. Open sky, a breeze coming off the river, no traffic noise to compete with. You slide into the rooftop pool, and your shoulders drop two inches. The water is perfect. You can see the City north across the Thames, the chimneys of Battersea Power Station to your left, the Shard catching the late light to the right. Somebody is reading at the sky bar. Somebody else has settled in on a lounger by the railing, in no hurry to move.

This is what Bloom East was built for. Two riverside buildings in Nine Elms where you can rent an apartment with a pool on the roof, a sky bar, a lounge, a fully equipped gym and studio, and a 24/7 onsite team who handle the deliveries, the dry cleaning and the small daily errands that used to take up your evenings.

The apartments are quiet, light, and properly finished. Floor-to-ceiling windows. Private balconies on most floors. Smeg and Bosch in the kitchens. Built-in storage, en suite bathrooms, smart home controls. You could live in a studio with 400 square feet of well-planned space. Or a three bed with two bathrooms, a balcony, and a view of the Thames bending past Battersea on its way into town.

Battersea Power Station is a short walk. The Northern Line from there gets you to the City in twelve minutes. Battersea Park is closer still, two hundred acres of plane trees and lake, the kind of green space that makes you forget the postcode you're in.

And then there is the pool. When it's 35°C, this is where you'll want to be.
